There are lots of car door protector products out there and choosing the right one can be tricky. Every car door protector company thinks their product is best and rightfully so - they came up with the idea, so it must be great. Not every car door protector is created equal, but there are some similarities between door protectors. 

A car door protector accessory can be categorized as (a) a removable magnetic car door protector (b) a stick on car door protector (i.e. door edge guards or door edge protectors) or (c) a hanging car door protector. Within each category there are major differences between the various car door protector accessories. 

Stick on car door protection is nothing new and probably remains the most popular form of car door protection. Many car manufacturers use stick on car door protection because it’s a durable and permanent solution, and looks like part of the car. The down side of stick on car door guards is that they do not provide adequate car door protection – they are more of an aesthetic accessory than a car door protector. 

In recent years, removable magnetic car door protectors have gained popularity, allowing the user to attach and remove the door guard easily. The very first car door protector was simply a vinyl magnetic sheet. You covered your car door with this magnetic sheet and “presto” your car or truck doors are instantly protected from dings, dents and damage. The down side is that placing a vinyl magnetic car door guard on a dirty surface may result in scratching, especially if the product moves.
